Florence Miailhe is fascinated by Western images of Oriental culture, and the female body. HAMMAM is set in what we know as a Turkish bath, and draws on the filmmaker's experiences of a North African bridal ritual. The freedom of animation as a medium, and her use of it, result in a powerful celebration of female sensuality.
