Entr'acte

Originally commissioned as a cinematic interlude for a ballet by Francis Picabia, ENTR'ACTE is considered one of the most interesting Dadaist films. Clair brought to the film his feeling for movement and rhythm, influenced in turn by the serials of Feuillade and Durand and by the comedies of Chaplin and Sennett. One of its distinguishing features is the arbitrariness that Andre Breton identified as the essential feature of the Surrealist image.
