LetterboxdLynne Ramsay's Small Deaths, Kill the Day and Gasman screened at Brief Encounters 1996 and 1997. In 1999 she was in Bristol to discuss those short films and the move to her debut feature Ratcatcher.
The 2009 catalogue named her alongside Andrea Arnold as one of the filmmakers the festival was pleased to have been associated with as they made the leap to features. Morvern Callar screened on 35mm in the Shorts 2 Features strand at Encounters 2019.
