Encounters 2015

281 films from 44 countries are recorded in the archive for this edition, with 4 award winners.

The festival featured Benjamin Cleary's Stutterer, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film, alongside Don Hertzfeldt's World of Tomorrow and the Oscar-nominated Everything Will Be Okay by Patrick Vollrath. Peter Baynton returned with Cookie-Tin Banjo, and Nina Gantz's Edmond — later BAFTA-nominated — was a competition highlight. The programme embraced themes of displacement and identity with Waves '98 by Ely Dagher and Rate Me by Fyzal Boulifa. Andreas Hykade's Nuggets and the prolific experimental work of Paul Bush featured in a strong animation selection.
